COMPOSITION
Tigger Kluessendorf is a composer, arranger, and orchestrator whose work bridges the worlds of jazz, film, and contemporary concert music. A graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Music in Composition, he writes with a strong emphasis on jazz and modern harmonic language, bringing emotional depth and rhythmic vitality to every project.
His compositions and arrangements have been performed at venues including the Warner Theatre, Garde Arts Center, The Palace Theater, Cinema Salem, the Laurie Beechman Theater, Rutgers University and Stanford University. His works have been brought to life by ensembles such as the Hartford Jazz Orchestra, the Guilford Town Band, Extreme Measures, the Windsor Locks Middle School Choir, and others.
Kluessendorf’s music for large ensemble spans big band, wind ensemble, and orchestra. His big band catalog includes the original composition Bad Timing and his arrangement of I’m Gonna Live Till I Die, both available for listening on all streaming platforms. His concert works include, but are not limited to, wind band compositions Prelude for Winds and Dash, both of which were premiered by the Guilford Town Band. To date, he has written and arranged over 200 works, including the complete repertoire of the Tigger Kluessendorf Jazz Combo, a group for which he serves as Music Director.
In addition to his concert and jazz writing, Kluessendorf has contributed extensively to film and theater. He composed the score for Call Me Back (CMB Productions), which premiered in New York City, and he’s currently scoring The Ballad of Max Thunderfist, which is currently filming in Virginia. His theatrical credits include orchestrations for Hocus Pocus Live (currently running), Fading In (Stanford University), College Road Trip: The Musical, and more.
Beyond composition, he has edited and published educational works by Jim Buchta, including Building the Band and Building the Beginning Band, both of which provide comprehensive approaches to music education.
